Band 9 Sample Essay
Technology’s influence on employment is a complex issue that merits careful consideration of both its disruptive and creative aspects. While technological advancement has indeed eliminated certain traditional occupations, it has simultaneously generated numerous new career opportunities.
On one side, technological developments have undeniably displaced many conventional jobs. In manufacturing, robots and automated systems have replaced human workers on assembly lines, significantly reducing the need for manual labor. Similarly, how technology affects traditional job markets can be seen in sectors like banking, where ATMs and digital banking have decreased the demand for traditional tellers.
However, technology has also created unprecedented employment opportunities. The IT sector has spawned entirely new career paths such as data scientists, AI specialists, and digital marketing professionals. Furthermore, how technology is transforming job markets in developing countries shows how digital platforms have enabled remote work and freelancing opportunities, allowing professionals to access global job markets.
In my opinion, while the displacement of traditional jobs is concerning, the benefits of technological advancement in creating new employment opportunities outweigh these drawbacks. The key lies in society’s ability to adapt through retraining programs and educational initiatives that prepare workers for emerging roles in the digital economy.

Modern technological job opportunities in the digital age
Band 6.5 Sample Essay
Nowadays, technology affects jobs in different ways. Some people think it causes problems for traditional workers, but others say it makes new jobs.
First, technology can make some jobs disappear. For example, many factories now use machines instead of people. Also, computers do work that people used to do in offices. This means some workers lose their jobs and find it hard to get new ones.
However, technology also makes new kinds of jobs. Many people work in computer jobs that didn’t exist before. Also, online businesses give people chances to work from home. Young people can learn new skills for these jobs.
I think technology is mostly good for jobs. Even though some old jobs disappear, new ones come instead. But governments should help workers learn new skills.
