Sample Essay 1 (Band 8-9)

The integration of technology into healthcare systems has revolutionized public health management, though its impact remains a subject of debate. While I believe the benefits substantially outweigh the drawbacks, both perspectives merit careful consideration.

Technology has undeniably enhanced public health capabilities in numerous ways. Advanced medical equipment and diagnostic tools enable early detection and treatment of diseases, dramatically improving survival rates. For instance, MRI machines and genetic testing have transformed our ability to identify and treat various conditions before they become life-threatening. Additionally, telemedicine platforms, which became crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, have made healthcare accessible to remote populations, similar to The benefits of community-based healthcare.

However, critics argue that technological advancement has introduced new health challenges. The proliferation of digital devices has led to increased sedentary behavior, contributing to rising obesity rates and related health issues. Furthermore, excessive screen time has been linked to various mental health concerns, including anxiety and depression, particularly among younger generations.

Nevertheless, I maintain that technology’s positive contribution to public health far exceeds its negative impacts. The key lies in implementing appropriate regulations and promoting responsible use of technology, as demonstrated in The role of governments in public welfare. Through proper education and guidelines, we can minimize the adverse effects while maximizing the benefits of technological innovations in healthcare.

Sample Essay 2 (Band 6-7)

Modern technology has changed how we manage public health. There are both good and bad effects of this change, and I will discuss these points.

On the positive side, technology helps doctors and hospitals work better. They can use computers to keep patient records and machines to find diseases quickly. Also, people can use health apps on their phones to check their exercise and diet. These tools make it easier for everyone to stay healthy.

However, there are some problems too. Many people spend too much time on computers and phones, which can hurt their eyes and backs. Children don’t play outside as much as before because they prefer video games. This can make them unhealthy and overweight.

In my opinion, technology helps more than it hurts public health. If we use it carefully, we can get the good parts without the bad effects. For example, we can limit screen time while still using health apps to track our exercise.
